Avantika Rao is a joyful lawyer who speaks English, Spanish, and Hindi.  Ms. Rao has brought the peace of justice to hundreds of clients.

Ms. Rao's legal efforts have expanded recognition of the role of coercion in abusive systems.  She has significant experience with asylum, crime victim visas, and deportation defense (immigration litigation).  She has managed immigration, employment, and housing legal clinics for diverse non-profits.  Her first position was at the Hawaii Judiciary as a law clerk to Judge Daniel Foley.

In 2010, the U.S. Department of Justice invited the attorney to present in Washington, D.C.  In 2011, Ms. Rao was honored with a Jack W. Londen Award by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the Bay Area.
